Other family matters
The Gambardella family comes from Atrani, a small village on the Amalfi coast just next to Amalfi. My great grandfather (my father's grandfather) was the village doctor. His name was (of course!) Alfonso Gambardella
My grandmother, Olga Napoli, my Mom's mother, was a painter. Here is the link to her website
I have recently discovered that my great-great granduncle, Ignazio Pentagallo (the granduncle of my Mom's father), was -- believe it or not -- an inventor! I had no idea about it when I decided to study innovation and inventors. If anything, my father, an engineer, encouraged me to study innovation, while Ignazio comes from my mother's side. If there is any association here it may be because my mother was more likely to match with someone with a technical background. At any rate, Ignazio Pentagallo invented a special kind of safe. He won a prize and my aunt says he had a patent. I'll figure it out. However, here he is!
My father, Giovanni Gambardella, started a blog (in Italian) where he discusses current issues about politics and society. It's an open and informal blog. Feel free to post comments or propose articles!
On January 25, 2009, Giovanni Bianco (who was 17 then), son of my sister Olga (... yes, Olga is a common name in my family), played his first game in A1 league, waterpolo. His team was Savona, and here is the news (in Italian)
On December 9, 2013, Giovanni was then called up for the first time to be part of the Italian National Waterpolo Team ("Il Settebello.") Here is the news (in Italian)
